Morning Worship for Eighth Sunday after Trinity
2nd August 2020
A video of this service (29 mins) is available.
Grace, mercy and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ be with you and also with you. Lord, speak to us that we may hear your word. Move among us that we may behold your glory. Receive our prayers that we may learn to trust you. Amen.
God shows his love for us in that, while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Let us then show our love for him by confessing our sins in penitence and faith. In a dark and disfigured world we have not held out the light of life: Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy. In a hungry and despairing world we have failed to share our bread: Christ, have mercy. Christ, have mercy. In a cold and loveless world we have kept the love of God to ourselves Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy. May the God of love and power forgive you and free you from your sins, heal and strengthen you by his Spirit, and raise you to new life in Christ our Lord. Amen.
Lord God, your Son left the riches of heaven and became poor for our sake: when we prosper save us from pride, when we are needy save us from despair, that we may trust in you alone; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and for ever. Amen.
The love of God sustain us, the joy of God fill us, the power of God strengthen us; and the blessing of God almighty, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, be among us and remain with us always. Amen. Let us bless the Lord. Thanks be to God. Amen.
